Blog article about the importance of taking breaks & the healing factor of the sea.

“Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” – Noam Shpancer

Introduction

How would you feel if you were left behind and didn’t know where to stand anymore? Well, that's exactly what happened to me. I couldn't decide which path to choose. I was frustrated with myself for overthinking things; it turned out that I was comparing myself to other people and it really tipped me over the edge.

Lately I have been struggling so much and I fear that any moment I might collapse and not be able to stand up anymore. That’s why I planned to go somewhere where I can find peace… and I think I found it. It’s a place where you can feel the heat of the sun, the sound of the waves, refreshing wind, and white sand - things that help to relieve tension and stress. Going to the beach was such a simple measure, but, guess what? It worked wonders! I felt like my wound healed and I realised something: sometimes we all need time to take a break. We need some self-reflection and find the purpose of our lives.

Overcoming hardships

How can we overcome thorny circumstances? I always taught myself to be strong in difficult times. It may affect our inner core but once we realise our purpose in life we are able to stand up and face the world without fear. We might tell ourselves that “we are not doing enough” but no one is really telling us that except ourselves, right? Life is not a race, we have different timelines and these adversities in our lives will teach us how to be strong.

So if I could give some piece of advice to the people who are struggling like me it’d be this: stop comparing yourself to other people, stop beating yourself up. Each person has a personal path to take and we have different journeys in life. We are unique in our own way and we will shine in our own time.
